In November last year, Canstruct and Murphy Family Foundation Founder, Robin Murphy OAM, was a special guest panellist at the America Chamber of Commerce’s Thanksgiving luncheon. The panel was hosted by KDPR Director, Kristin Devitt and discussed the business benefits of gratitude and giving. Joined alongside Robin Murphy on the panel were representatives from Suncorp, Ronald McDonald House, Mater Hospital, and Google.
Robin Murphy discussed his perspective on the importance of supporting good causes, both as a corporation and as an individual. He enlightened guests about the ‘warm inner glow’ that giving produces and the other benefits including motivation and inspiration of staff, gaining respect from clients, noblesse oblige, and government approval. Robin shed light on how giving is an opportunity to learn new things and see other people’s perspectives. He also shared his personal experience visiting the Lockhart River to see the Puuya Foundation’s construction of an early years learning centre, a project the Murphy Family Foundation supported through administration and donations. He said it was inspiring to see the hard work of volunteers and staff, and rewarding to see the impact his donation made on the community.
